After getting their first win in over a month at home the last time out, LAFC are set to kickoff their September road trip that will see them play their next three matches on the road, not playing another home match until October 10th. The boys are prepared for a trip to the midwest, taking on Sporting KC, a team they have had plenty of success against in recent years. This will be the perfect opportunity to really kickstart a win streak.

Sporting Kansas City will play this match at home. That is where the positives start, and end, for the Western Conference side currently sitting at the bottom of the conference. SKC have not won a match since July 22nd, earning just one draw and suffering six losses, in the seven matches played since. At this point in the season, their playoff hopes are well extinguished, and this will be a match played for pure pride and a chance to really shakeup the top of the table. As if that wasn’t bad enough, the home side come into tonight with more than a handful of players ruled OUT or Questionable, due to injury, with several others likely to see limited minutes with various knocks.
There are trap games, then there are games that just feel like a setup. This is one of those matches. Everything is pointing to an LAFC win. The team is healthier with Palencia said to expect to see minutes in this match as well as midfielder Igor Jesus, who is returning from injury. This is the type of match that will scream ‘rest the star players’ and should LAFC Head Coach Marc Dos Santos oblige, that could be the opening needed for SKC to do something they haven’t done since 2021, beat Los Angeles. LAFC haven’t fared well in matches they opt for heavy rotation in the starting XI, but this is also the perfect match, with a long roadtrip ahead, to let some of the regulars see a bit of rest. Perhaps a compromise of starting the big guns, letting them get the team out to a lead, and pulling them at halftime.
