After a nice stint at home, Angel City FC have packed up and hit the road for another road trip. First stop, North Carolina, to take on the Courage for the first time in the 2023 season. Fresh off one of the more controversial losses of the season, ACFC look to continue building on some really great form they have found recently. Nothing says overcoming adversity like responding to last week’s tough loss, with a win and three points to start the road trip off right.

Despite the tough loss last time out, Angel City FC come into this one aiming to continue the rhythm they had built up over the last month. Even in the loss, the defense did an excellent job at stifling one of the most potent attacks in the NWSL. MA Vignola, in particular, had an outstanding match keeping Trinity Rodman off the score sheet with limited attempts at goal. While the late penalty decision was tough to swallow, Head Coach Freya Coombe is confident the team is already past it and looking to bounce-back from it this evening, telling assembled media, “This is a resilient group. We do not want to leave the control of the game down to the officials’ decision, we want to be in control of our own destiny. The team is motivated to ensure that difficult decisions made by officials are not the ones that control the outcome of the game.”
Angel City FC: OUT – Simone Charley (SEI – Achilles), Sydney Leroux (ankle), Merritt Mathias (knee), Christen
Press (SEI – knee), Megan Reid (hip). QUEST – Julie Ertz (thigh)
North Carolina Courage: OUT – Emily Gray (SEI– knee) Estelle Johnson (lower leg)
