The site now known as Angels on Parade launched in the spring of 2011 as The Goat Parade. By June of that year, I was writing on the site, and pretty much continued that for the next decade-plus.
The longevity of a site like that, originally devoted to Chivas USA, which of course died after the 2014 season, would seem to have very long odds. But we persisted over the years, covering the final four seasons of the Chivas USA era, the interregnum between MLS teams, a rebrand of the site to Angels on Parade, the launch and now six seasons of LAFC, now nine seasons of Orange County SC, and the launch and two seasons and counting of Angel City FC, the long-awaited top flight women’s pro team in the city.
In that time, a lot has happened in my personal life, too: I changed careers, somehow finding a way to get regular work in sports. I got married, had a baby. We bought our first house, and then moved all the way across the country. My human baby is my primary love, of course, but Angels on Parade was like a second baby, that still needed to be fed, in a sense, but didn’t need diaper changes.
Now that we’ve launched the retooled Angels on Parade in the post-SB Nation era, I am announcing I will be stepping back from daily coverage and hand over the managing editorship to Trebor Tracy, who served as my trusty partner on this site for more than a year and a half. Put simply, Trebor not only put in the work the past few months to usher the site into its new phase, he’s ready for this moment. Trebor knows what works in covering these teams, he’s hungry, and he’ll do a fantastic job, I know it. Please show him the same love you showed me all these years.
I’ll probably still pop up with a column every now and then here, but this reboot is a bittersweet ending for me. 12 years in the digital media game on one outlet is an absolute eternity, and it’s time for me to move on to other projects, give Trebor the keys to Angels on Parade, and look forward with you to seeing how this site will continue to grow and flourish.

Congrats on all you’ve accomplished with this site!!! I’ve loved it for LAFC.
Alicia, I always looked forward to our matches (Seattle Sounders) against each and every club you’ve covered over the years as your analyses and insights were thoughtful and informative. Dave Clark’s three questions sessions with you gave me a great look into who are opponents were and what we might expect from the match. Thank you for the many years of your hard work and always easy and yet fun to read contributions.
