As fans await the expected announcement of the arrival of a certain, Son, that was promised, LAFC are back in action tonight for the finale of Phase One of Leagues Cup action. This one truly is a must-win as the team need to win outright, not in penalty shootouts, if they want to keep the already slim hope, alive at advancing into the next round as one of the top four teams.

Tigres is not going to be an easy team to get three points off of. The Mexican giants currently sit atop their group, as the lone Liga MX side to have won both of their matches so far with a full six points to their tally. Unfortunately for LAFC, that doesn’t mean they will be taking this one lightly as one, as they look to remain unbeaten in this their third match against Los Angeles, but also because they too need a win to really ensure they advance with how close their table is at the moment. Forward Ángel Correa will be the one to watch in this match, as he has four goals so far this competition, with a brace in each of the first two outings. Winger Jonathan Herrera is another to keep tabs on with a goal to his name, and a player that likes to stretch the defense by getting out wide.
LAFC will be leaning heavy on their attack, and with good reason. Even if they get the win and three points, there is a chance advancing comes down to goal differential for the black & gold and currently it isn’t great. A big win would do wonders for their chances, and honestly, their confidence as a whole. This will be the third time these two teams meet, with Tigres having won the first meeting back in 2020 during CONCACAF Champions League, and winning via penalty shootout during Campeones Cup in 2023. No time like the present to get that first win over the Liga MX side for LAFC. As always, Denis Bouanga will be the go-to, but with Ordaz out due to his red card last match, it might be down to the likes of David Martinez and Ebobisse to get the slack.
