It’s still far too early in the MLS season to panic. That said, the vibes in Los Angeles when it comes to LAFC, have been shaky at best since the start of the 2025 campaign. Sure, the expectations for this club are always the highest they can be, and yes, even the slightest stumble often gets blown into the tallest mountain to climb, but you can’t ignore, the team is struggling right now. Points are getting dropped, places in the standings lost, and more importantly, allowing the stench of mediocracy to linger around the team for longer than it should. With a break from the midweek madness of Champions Cup, the team have a great opportunity to get a much needed win on the road, and get back some of that form we know they are capable of.

This is one of those matches that, on paper, feels like such a slam-dunk win for LAFC. Sporting KC are one of the worst teams in the MLS at the moment, are one of the six clubs without a win so far this season, and are in a multi-team tie for second most goals conceded so far this season (8). Their most recent result, a 3-3 draw with Minnesota United, snapped a 10-match losing streak that extended all the way to last year. The last win Sporting KC had was back in September in a 4-1 over Colorado Rapids. What we are trying to say is, if ever there was a match for LAFC to really shake-off the early season struggles, it’s this one, even if it is on the road. Most notably for Sporting is their new man in attack, former LA Galaxy forward, Dejan Joveljic, who has bagged two goals in his four appearances this season. While he is just one man, we have seen less motivated players ruin a team singlehandedly. Let’s just hope all that animosity from his Galaxy days have been forgotten.
LAFC come into this match in rough form, but far better than their opponents. The team come into this one riding a three match losing streak that they hope to snap, but as has been the concern in the early stages of the season, the questions about the attack remain. It doesn’t get easier either, as the team will be missing Denis Bouanga for this match, as he misses domestic action while he represents Gabon during this International Break. Luckily, El Salvador International, Nathan Ordaz, will be back with the team and will be available for selection, giving him a massive opportunity to really show what he can do as the main-man in attack. For the black & gold, the real objective needs to be avoiding the early goal concession. A team like SKC, especially at home, only need a brief moment of brilliance to give them the confidence to pull off the upset.
