It’s only the second match of the Leagues Cup competition, and LAFC are already in a must-win situation. The team was pushed to a 1-1 draw in regulation against Mazatlán in match one, which ended with the Mexican side coming away with the two-point victory after a 12-round penalty shootout. With how the rest of the MLS fared in their opener, Los Angeles are now faced with a must win match against Pachuca if they want to have any hope of being one of the just four teams from the MLS side, of advancing to the knockout stages.

On the Liga MX side, Pachuca sit in fifth, as one of the five Mexican sides to have won their opening match. They took on the best team in the Western Conference, San Diego FC, and came away with an impressive 3-2 victory. In their own league, Pachuca sit atop the standings as they have gone undefeated through three matches. Midfielder Victor Guzman and attacker Alexei Figueroa were the ones who took control of their opener, with Figueroa scoring a brace in the win, while attacker Jhonder Cadiz is another to keep tabs on as he can turn it on at any time and make the defense pay with his goalscoring ability.
For LAFC, this is absolutely a must-win match if they want to keep hopes of advancing alive. The team currently sit all the way in 12th after their regulation draw and subsequent penalty shootout loss. That means, if they want to reach the top four and put themselves in a position to advance, they absolutely need to take down Pachuca tonight. While their opponent will be a tough one, they will be at home once again with the backing of the 3252. Not to mention, LAFC are no stranger to taking down some of the biggest and best that Liga MX has to offer. It will take a massive effort from the likes of Denis Bouanga, the defense as a whole, and maybe some more magic from Nathan Ordaz and David Martinez. The hill may be steep, but this is still a team capable of making a run and beating anyone when they play to the level we all know they can.
How To Watch
LAFC will have the chance to snap the skid at home, and get back into the win column tonight. Kickoff is set for 7:30pm PT from BMO Stadium in Los Angeles, California. The match will be broadcast live and can be seen on MLS Season Pass on Apple TV. Those looking to listen on radio can find the match on 710AM ESPN, with Spanish broadcasting on 980AM LA Mera Mera.
