As it stands, LAFC are limping their way towards the long summer break for the upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup. They are in the middle of a losing streak, struggling for form and looking to, at the very least, ensure they go into the break with some positive momentum with a win over their Western Conference rivals, Seattle Sounders. It will be hard for some to focus, but that is what Los Angeles need the most tonight, everyone focused on one last big performance before going their separate ways for the big tournament.

Seattle comes into this match having lost just once in their last five matches, with two wins and two draws. The loss came their last time out, when they played the other Los Angeles team. Seattle forward Paul Arriola and defender Alex Roldan are questionable for this match, but the Sounders still have forwards Jesús Ferreira and Jordan Morris who account for most of Seattle’s goals this season.
LAFC have lost four straight, having gone winless in their last five matches, approaching a month without a win, their last victory coming against Toluca on April 30th when they were still in contention for the Concacaf Champions Cup. Even in victory the last couple of months, the team has struggled to look as dominant as they did to start the season, with the attack having not just fizzled out, but doused with water and gone completely cold. This is the first meeting with Seattle this season, with LAFC having had a triumphant 4-0 win the last time they played, which was also in Los Angeles. Goalkeeper Hugo Lloris, defender Sergi Palencia and forward Jacob Shaffelburg are all out with injury for this match, making it a bit trickier for the black & gold but they have the talent and depth to overcome those absences.
As we have mentioned a lot the last couple of weeks, this will be the last match before the very long summer break as players head out to represent their respective nations in the upcoming FIFA World Cup. The last thing LAFC want is to go into the break with such poor form. While momentum will have to start from zero win or lose upon their return in July, it would still be a big boost to end the first chapter of the 2026 campaign, with a win at home.
