It’s a holiday weekend match day on the road, for Angel City FC this afternoon. They travel to the East Coast to take on Gotham FC in a matchup that has slowly began the process of becoming a full-blown rivalry. It will be a bit of a reunion between the two sides as well, as Angel City FC Interim Head Coach Becki Tweed, returns to Gotham FC, this time at the helm of the opposition.

The last time these two met was to kickoff the 2023 season, in Los Angeles, back in March. Top NWSL Draft Pick Alyssa Thompson took only ten minutes to get her first NWSL goal, but a strong ten minute period from the visitors gave them enough for the 2-1 win on the road, despite Angel City dominating most of the match. This time LA will be on the road, and without Thompson who is off at her first USWNT World Cup Camp ahead of the upcoming tournament. However, the team has looked more refreshed lately with Becki Tweed at the reigns. Now, they hope to chip away at the gap, with the hopes of sneaking into the playoffs with just a handful of matches left. A win today, will go a long way in helping that postseason push.
