After the brief one-match road trip, Angel City FC are back at home and looking to secure the first win of the season as they host a very surprising Seattle Reign side. After a rebuild season that saw them struggle throughout the year, eventually finishing 13th, the Reign have started this season a lot better. While they have split their first two matches, one win and one draw, they have looked miles better than last season. Angel City are looking to shake off their sluggish start to the campaign, and a win at home today could be the spark the team need to push on with a run in these early stages of the season.

The Reign come into Los Angeles shorthanded, as the most recent injury report has them set to take on Angel City missing several key players. Notably. forward Lynn Biyendolo (formerly Lynn Williams)(lower leg), Jordyn Huitema (leg), and Jess Fishlock (leg) are all among those set to miss this evening’s matchup. That said, this is a Reign side that has leaned heavily on their youth to start the season, with players like defender Jordyn Bugg, forward Emeri Adames, and midfielder Maddie Mercado all having had stellar starts early on in this campaign. They will need to not only be on their game tactically, but will have to be able to handle the bright lights and big LA stage, if they want to come out of here with the result.
Angel City meanwhile, are still searching for their first win of the 2025 campaign. Under Interim Head Coach Sam Laity, the Los Angeles side has also leaned heavily on their youth. Players like forward Riley Tiernan, midfielder Kennedy Fuller, defenders Savy King and Gisele Thompson, are all under the age of 23, and all have had solid starts to the new season. That said, this is a team that still needs a bit more, especially up front. Just two goals combined in their first two matches of the season, despite matches clearly screaming for them to take control and pull away. Being back at home will help immensely, but mostly Angel City need to put the pieces together if they are to come away with a win tonight.
