Now we see just how much depth LAFC truly have. It is, unfortunately, International break, and with just three matches left in the MLS regular season, Los Angeles prepare to have their two best players miss out on two of those matches. Luckily, LAFC have already secured a spot in the MLS Playoffs, and after their win a few days ago, have cemented themselves in fourth place, ensuring at least one round of home field advantage in the postseason. That said, there is still a chance for this team to finish atop the Western Conference, but to do that, they will need to prove they are more than just Son Heung-Min and Denis Bouanga.

This will only be the third time LAFC have taken the pitch against Eastern Conference side, Toronto FC, and their first meeting in over five years! Toronto come into this match on an eight match unbeaten run. Interestingly enough, all eight matches have ended in draws. Even more intriguing, outside of a 0-0 draw against Atlanta United and their recent 2-2 draw with Chicago Fire, all other results have ended 1-1. All that is to say, there is a very good chance tonight’s match ends in points being shared because Toronto if nothing else, grinds out the result. Djordje Mihailovic will be the player to focus on if you’re LAFC, as the midfielder leads Toronto with 11 goals scored this season.
As we mentioned, this will be just the third meeting all-time between these two clubs, and their first time taking the pitch against each other since 2019. While a small sample size, this is one of those teams that has yet to beat LAFC, with Los Angeles winning their first meeting, and both teams sharing he points in their last matchup, which ironically ended in a 1-1 draw. While LAFC are coming into this one looking to make it six straight wins, they also come in missing the two players who were critical in that winning stretch. Denis Bouanga, Son Heung-Min, Nathan Ordaz, and Mathieu Choinière are all set to miss tonight’s match as they have been called-up to represent their respective Nations during International duty. There was a sliver of hope Bouanga would play and then fly out as he has done in the past, but the team announced last night that he too would be missing this matchup as Gabon prepares for a very crucial World Cup qualifier window. All that said, this would be a great time to see the likes of Timothy Tillman, David Martinez, and others step up to keep LA rolling into the postseason with wins.
