Midweek Madness in the MLS is back! There is no chaos like MLS action in the middle of the week and LAFC will be thrown right back into the fire tonight when they welcome Western Conference rivals, Seattle Sounders. It’s a battle of top five teams in the West as the two sides write another chapter in one of the more organic rivalries in the league.

It’s a milestone meeting for the two sides tonight, as the two hit the pitch for the 25th time tonight. Seattle come to Los Angeles in really good form, currently unbeaten in their last five matches with four of those being wins. Albert Rusnak leads the attack for Seattle with Jordan Morris and Paul Arriola both out with injuries coming into this one. With 12 goals in their last five matches, the visitors will be looking to apply the pressure on early, especially being the road team. Having already gotten the best of LAFC earlier in the season, expect Seattle to come out confident, and ready to play spoiler in Los Angeles’ return home.
LAFC are in just as good of form coming into this match. It’s five matches unbeaten for the black & gold coming into tonight, and while they have only won two of those, the team has looked leaps and bounds better than they have to start the season. After a hard fought 2-2 draw on the road against the best team in the league currently, Vancouver Whitecaps, the boys will be looking to come away with all three points at BMO, and get a bit of revenge in the process. “We struggled in Seattle this year, on match day three in the second half” said LAFC Head Coach Steve Cherundolo when speaking to media ahead of tonight’s match. “It’s a tough team, a tough matchup, but we are at home and our expectations are to win.”
LAFC currently hold the advantage historically, with 13 wins total over Seattle, but it’s the Sounders who come in having already beaten LAFC this season. Which brings us to the most intriguing question for this matchup, will LAFC put out a strong squad? Los Angeles were balancing Champions Cup last time these two met, taking a very heavily rotated side into Seattle. A few of those that started that match, have not seen a minute since. While this is a midweek match, and quick turnaround from the last time out, we expect LAFC to put out a stronger side this time around. With no other competitions to focus on, all efforts are currently in on making sure MLS goes well and getting three points off a team like Sounders, at home, goes a long way to ensuring you finish in a great spot in the table.
