After taking apart Real Salt Lake at their house in Utah, LAFC get set for the second of their back-to-back. After their recent win the team has climbed into fourth place in the West, still maintaining games in hand on those above them. Real Salt Lake come into this one, as we all know, fresh off a loss at the midweek to this very Los Angeles side. It was a dominant performance from the visitors, but now RSL have the chance to get their lick back. RSL have won just one match in their last five, having scored no more than one goal in each of those losses. The Utah side also has a game in hand on those above them in their fight for one of the final playoff spots, but the losing form isn’t doing them any favors. The big key for them coming into this one will be making it an ugly match. Getting defensively heavy as they hope to slow down what has been a scorching LA attack in recent outings.
Speaking of, last time out was vintage LAFC. From kickoff they controlled the match, they made the most of their chances, and they looked as close to unstoppable as possible. New arrival Son Heung-Min secured his first MLS hat trick and Denis Bouanga made history by surpassing Carlos Vela himself for the title of LAFC all-time leading scorer, with his lone goal on the night. Now, they both look to keep the hot streak going as they run it back against RSL, this time at home. They have only lost twice to this side while at home, the last time coming way back in 2023. It’s one of their most successful head-to-head records as well with 14 wins, one draw, and just four losses. That said, MLS is weird and wild and while the fans will be celebrating their legend Carlos Vela, the team has to stay laser focused on the pitch considering the last time they were at home, they lost to a tough San Diego side.
