It’s been nearly a month since LAFC last tasted the sweet flavors of victory ( a 1-0 win over Toluca in Leagues Cup action), and its been well over a month since the black & gold got a win in MLS play, their last win a 4-0 thumping of Sporting Kansas City, way back on July 25th. With August over, the team look to leave the heatwaves and offensive struggles, in the summer, as they aim to get back to winning ways tonight when they take to the road against Real Salt Lake.

Sure, LAFC may be in the middle of a rough stretch by their standards, but they are still doing a lot better as of late than their next opponent. Real Salt Lake come into this match having lost their last four outings, conceding a combined 10 goals in that stretch. While RSL enjoyed a decent run in Leagues Cup that saw them advance further than LAFC, you have to go back to before the World Cup break, all the way back in May, to find the last time Real Salt Lake got a win in MLS play. It’s been since 2024 that RSL got a win over Los Angeles, and of the 10 matches played in Utah, RSL has only gotten two wins at home. All that said, if forwards Sergi Solans and Morgan Guilavogui can get going early, we could see one of the upsets of the season.
Finally, August is over for Los Angele. Both the city at large with the record-breaking heatwave now a thing of the past, and for the club who have had better months of football than what we just saw the last few weeks. As we mentioned, it’s been over a month since the club’s last MLS win, and with playoffs approaching, now is when you want to start playing your best football. If ever there was a perfect time to play Real Salt Lake, a team Los Angeles historically has great success against, it’s tonight. By now we all know the story, the team is healthier than its been in a while and the two biggest superstars, Denis Bouanga and Heung-Min Son, will be leaned on to finally get going with the goalscoring. It’s been a busy couple of weeks of transfer business so there will be several new names for fans to get used to, and one very painful departure that saw forward David Martinez leave Los Angeles.
