For all the history LAFC has made in their short time as an MLS club, there is one bit of history they came tantalizingly close to, that they will never be able to achieve. Becoming the first MLS side to win the CONCACAF Champions League.ย Having made the Finals back in 2020, the team would fall to Tigres UANL, only to watch the Seattle Sounders become the first-ever MLS side to win the tournament just last year. Despite the opportunity at even more history lost, the team is still very much focused onย making a return to the CCL Finals, with the hopes of keeping the trophy in the MLS for at least another year.

These two teams are about as even as you can be coming into a match like this. There is a reason the two teams that put on one of the greatest MLS matches ever, in a Finals match, are now facing one another again with a trip to the CONCACAF Champions League Finals on the line. These are the two best teams in MLS at the moment for sure, and not much separates the two coming into this one.ย In their last five meetings they have played to a draw four times, with LAFC winning the outlier, which happened to be the MLS Cup Finals match where the two teams needed penalty kicks to determine a winner.
