The Concacaf Champions Cup semifinals didn’t wrap up the way LAFC had planned. Despite going into Mexico with the goal advantage, the team were thoroughly handled by Toluca in the second leg, being on the receiving end of 4-0 thrashing that saw them eliminated from Cup contention, right on the doorstep of a finals appearance. Now, the team look to bounce back at home as they return to MLS action fully focused on making sure their domestic journey doesn’t end in the same disappointing fashion.

The Houston Dynamo come to Los Angeles to wrap up this season’s meetings between the two Western Conference sides. Dynamo come into this one sitting in ninth place in the West, having won five and lost five in their first 10 matches of the MLS campaign. Recently, they have won four of their last five, with just one loss sandwiched between the wins. Dynamo have lost their last two meetings with Los Angeles, their last win coming back in April of last year. Former LAFC midfielder Mateusz Bogusz along with forwards Guilherme Augusto and Lawrence Ennali will be ones to watch for if you’re Los Angeles, looking to stifle their attack.
It’s been a rough week for Los Angeles. Their form in MLS play has suffered as of late, as they have been focusing as much as possible on their Champions Cup run. Now that it’s officially over for them in that competition, they come into this one looking to get back to winning ways and build up some positive form. They have won just one in their last five MLS outings, with two draws and two losses. Now, they have a chance to gain some momentum at home before hitting the road for a brief road trip ahead of the long break for FIFA World Cup in just a month’s time. The real issue for this side has been the lack of ideas in attack. Heung-Min Son continues his scoring drought, though he has found ways to impact the team in positives ways without scoring, while Denis Bouanga also struggles to find the back of the net with the same venom and consistency as he did near the start of the season. It will be a race to score first, as the team who scores first in this matchup hasn’t lost since 2019.
