It’s been a record start to the season for LAFC as they have already matched their record four-straight shutouts tally, in what has been one of, if not the best start to a season ever for the Los Angeles club. Now, they will try and break the record with a fifth-straight shutout win to kickoff the 2026 MLS season, as they head to Austin to take on the always tough, Austin FC. After a dramatic late winner to send them past what was a very difficult Alajuelense side in the midweek, the team will be ready to continue to flex their MLS muscle where they not only haven’t lost yet, but haven’t even conceded a goal up to this point.

Austin FC have run the table in regards to results to start their 2026 MLS season. Through four matches they have won one, drawn one, and lost two, both losses coming in their most recent outings. They have scored more than one goal just once this season, the 2-2 draw in the opener at home. Now, they welcome the hottest team in the league, as they themselves look to get back on track, while avoiding a third loss in a row. Surprisingly, most of their offensive production has come from the defense. Defenders Jon Bell and Brendan Hines-Ike have found the scoresheet while defender Jon Gallagher has an assist to his name. In attack, midfielder Facundo Torres is the player to keep an eye on if you’re LAFC.
Speaking of, while the results have gone their way, it hasn’t been as easy as it looks on the surface as of late for LAFC. Their last four outings have been real gritty matches that saw then grind it out against a tough FC Dallas side, suffer their first draw in Champions Cup to an Alajuelense side that nearly got the best of them in that first leg, only to need a late match winner in the second leg to advance, and struggle to find offense for most of the match against St. Louis City, scoring the first goal in the 71st minute. One of the biggest struggles has been the slight slump that Heung-Min Son and Denis Bouanga have seen lately. Though, to be fair, while they haven’t been piling on the goals, they have impacted matches in other ways like assists or drawing off defenders so others can have a chance to shine. That said, going up against Austin FC on the road is always a tough proposition so it doesn’t look like the gritty mentality will let up anytime soon.
