In an offseason that has seen what feels like an avalanche of “part of our history” posts, LAFC fans can rejoice in news of a player coming into the squad. Earlier in the week, Los Angeles FC announced the acquisition of midfielder Odin Thiago Holm on loan through the 2025 season, from Scottish Premier League side, Celtic. Holm will occupy an International Roster Slot and will be added to the roster pending receipt of his International Transfer Certificate (ITC) and P1 Visa.

Holm, 21, joins LAFC after a season and a half with Celtic, the current leaders of the Scottish Premiership with whom he won the league title as well as the Scottish Cup in 2023-24. Holm made 13 appearances for the Hoops last season, scoring in the Scottish Cup, and facing Feyenoord and Atlético Madrid in the Champions League Group Stage. Holm appeared in three league matches in 2024. Internationally, Holm has appeared for Norway at every age level from U-15 to U-21. He last appeared for his country in a U-21 match vs. Denmark in June, 2024.

While not many have seen the young 21-year-old Norwegian in action, when looking at film and past matches two things jump off the screen. His pace and his dribbling ability. In a lot of respects, he looks and feels, like a younger Martin Ødegaard, a fellow Norwegian midfielder currently pulling the strings at Arsenal. Holm appears to have a natural ability to find, create, and take advantage of the space he is in. In his youth matches for country, he took it upon himself at times to take matches over. A natural leadership aura follows him, something that will help him as he steps into the bright lights of Los Angeles.
LAFC and their fans will be hoping the youngster possesses the foresight and vision of his Norse Mythology namesake, as he looks to fill in some big shoes with several midfielders already out of LA, and one rumored to be heading out in the coming days. With an attack that will feature the likes of Bouanga and Giroud, Holm will have plenty of opportunities to show that vision. It should come as no surprise that Odin arrives with plenty of hype and several bags full of potential. Whether Head Coach Steve Cherundolo and the rest of LAFC can help him unlock that potential on a consistent basis, is the question we are all eager to answer.
