LAFC were back in action after their match in the midweek, hosting California rival San Jose Earthquakes. The visitors are the team that last beat the black & gold, sending Los Angeles on an unbeaten run that they looked to push to 11 with a win tonight.

LAFC came out looking like a team wanting to make a statement and they wasted no time in doing just that. In the 15th minute of the match, Palencia sent a pin-perfect cross into the box that found a leaping Mateusz Bogusz who got his head on it to get it past the line for the early lead.

In just ten minutes, LAFC went and did it again. A great pass into the box sent Denis Bouanga on the run and into the box to take on the keeper. That is a matchup that has ended only one way as of late, and this time was no different, as Denis doubled the lead for LAFC after smashing it home.

The boys weren’t done and after bringing himself level in goals, Kei Kamara decided it was time to make some history in the 34th minute. Mateusz Bogusz casually lofted in a great cross that found Kamara climbing the tallest of ladders to get over the defender and get his head on it. He smashed it home for goal 146 in his MLS career, taking him past Landon Donavon for second place on the all-time list.

The rout was on and in the 41st minute it was clear lady luck was sitting with Los Angeles. Ryan Hollingshead put in a shot that was in truth, a bit lazy and unassuming. However, it deflected off the San Jose defender, and settled in the back of the net for the fourth goal of the half for the black & gold.

Not looking to be completely embarrassed in the first half, San Jose were able to snatch one back in the final moments of the half. With the furious five goal half finally coming to an end, it was time to breathe and stretch before setting in for what was sure to be a similar second half.

The second half got started and the scoring frenzy picked up right where it left off. Just three minutes into the half, Denis Bouanga curled in a cross that went across the front of goal, finding Mateusz Bogusz, who slammed it home for his brace, and the fifth goal for LAFC on the night. At this point, these two must be part of some hive mind, as they have had an unreal connection the last couple of months.

In the 57th minute it looked like Benji Kikanović found the same ladder Kamara used on his goal, as he climbed into the clouds to get a header of his own that found the back of the net, giving San Jose their second of the night.

Tomas Angel had his moment under the LA lights, getting his first MLS goal as time wound down, and giving LAFC six goals on the night.

The rout was a statement indeed, as LAFC made sure everyone knew that last match was last match and this is a completely different team than we saw at the start of the season. Now, the team get ready to host Colorado Rapids, as they look to keep the winning going and stack as many points as possible.
