Revenge surely is sweet, but even sweeter than getting your get back, is doing so in a way that gives hope for the future. It’s no secret the start of the season has been a bit rocky for LAFC, but as the team move further past the Concacaf Champions Cup loss, they have begun to find their form. This weekend they got the chance to host Houston Dynamo just weeks after the Texas side beat LAFC, but this time around there was no rotated squad, no focus on Champions Cup, and Los Angeles were at home.

From the start, this was vintage LAFC. For the first time this season, not only did the team do what they needed to do to come away with the three points, but they did so in vintage dominating fashion. The first half was a blend of the past and present tactics. Dynamo maintained more of the possession, while Los Angeles used their deadly counter-attack to apply the pressure and they did exactly that early. It took just ten minutes for LAFC to find the back of the net, behind one of the most gorgeous build-ups you will see lead to a goal. 19 total passes took place as the team worked from the back, the finishing touches from Timothy Tillman, who found David Martinez down the side, who was able to hit defender Sergi Palencia who then sent a pass across the front of goal where it found Nathan Ordaz who needed a couple of bites at the apple before finally getting it over the line for the early lead.

The young striker continues his massive run of form this season, as he continues to lift the team on his back when they need it most. LAFC finished the first half with 12 shots, seven finding the target, while keeping Houston to just two shots in the half, with none hitting the target. While they couldn’t find another goal in the first half, it wasn’t for lack of trying. The team went into the halftime break with the lead but more importantly, having dominated every aspect of the match for the opening 45 minutes. The team looked dangerous, they were putting the pressure on, and they weren’t allowing anything defensively, stifling Houston’s every move.
The second half didn’t fare much better for the visitors, but it was a great performance for our boys. The attack wasn’t as aggressive, but still threatening. A fine balance of letting Dynamo run themselves ragged as their attack went absolutely nowhere each time they had possession, while also keeping Houston honest defensively with attacks and peppering the goal when they could. LAFC had seven shots in the second half, with one finding the back of the net late in the match. Just four minutes after being subbed into the match, Jeremy Ebobisse did something LAFC fans have seen him do before at BMO, just usually in the Timbers kit, but this time he did it for LA, unloading an absolute banger for a goal late in the match to double the lead, and eventually seal the win.

The team saw out the win and kept the clean sheet as they extend their unbeaten run to four matches. As we mentioned before, while the result is excellent, with the team able to get a bit of revenge for the loss earlier in the year, the best part of this win, was the how. This was the first performance of 2025 that was, start to finish, completely one sided. It was a vintage LAFC performance with the opposition unable to do anything, LAFC able to do everything, and BMO rocking with fans providing energy to the players on the pitch. The type of win that can really propel a team into a run. Now, the team get ready for their biggest test since their Champions Cup tie, a trip to Vancouver to take on the red-hot, Whitecaps. A team that it just so happens, secured their spot in the Champions Cup Final recently, with a 5-1 aggregate win over Inter Miami, in the semifinals.
