After a great start to the 2026 NWSL regular season, Angel City FC get set for their first road trip of the season. Luckily, it isn’t a long trip as they travel about 370 miles north to take on rivals, Bay FC. This is a prime opportunity for Los Angeles to show everyone last week wasn’t a one-off, nor a fluke, but the start of what this team will be going forward. It’s also a great chance to get an early three points off one of your rivals, which is always a fun time.

Bay FC continue the home stand to open their season, after welcoming NWSL newcomers Denver Summit to the league last week in their season opener at home. They came away with the professional 2-1 win, even if they looked shaky in moments. Rachael Kundananji and Alex Pfeiffer are the players to watch in this matchup as both can wreak havoc on the defense and find the back of the net if given the time and space to create.
Angel City are coming off a very impressive 4-0 win over Chicago Stars in their home opener to start the new campaign. While the goals stole the headlines, what really stood out while watching the match in person, was the defense. The return of Savy King was more than just an emotional injection of good vibes, it was the return of a player that will be incredibly valuable to this LA defense. Emily Sams looked to be settling in nicely with her new club, while veteran stalwart Sarah Gorden continued to prove how timeless she really is. Expecting a pile of goals every week will lead to disappointment, but if this team can keep Bay FC out of goal, it should be another banner day for the club as they look to reintroduce themselves under Alex Straus.
How To Watch
This will be the sixth matchup between the California rivals in what has been a back-and-forth affair between the two clubs as of late. Kickoff is set for 5:45pm PST from PayPal Park in San Jose, California. The match will be broadcast live and can be streamed on ION. The match can also be heard via iHeartRadio (ENG), as well as KWKW La Primera 1330 AM (SPA).
