Is it even surprising anymore? By now, we all have to know that if there is a chance LAFC and LA Galaxy play one another, it will happen. It will be no different in this year’s iteration of the U.S. Open Cup.Β For the second year in a row, these two clubs match up in the competition, with the Galaxy knocking out the eventual MLS Cup winners last year 3-1. Another week, another tournament for LAFC. After suffering their first MLS loss of the season just a few days ago against the San Jose Earthquakes, the team stayed up North to face off against USL Championship side, Monterey Bay FC. This midweek matchup wasn’t CCL competition, but rather some U.S. Open Cup Round of 32 action. Coming into the match, LAFC made it clear this would be a match where they would take the opportunity to rest some of the regular Starting XI, and get some match time and experience for the youngsters in the squad. π Seaside, CA pic.twitter.com/5Bp6aqLNnM…
After securing two points on the road with draws against two of the league’s best, Angel City FC was back at home and looking to keep the momentum going with a win. The team was playing host to KC Current, another team looking to shake off some early-season struggles, but coming into this one with three wins in a row under their belts. It’s hard to be too critical of Angel City FC as of late. Despite still searching for some more wins to add to that singular win from earlier in the season, the team did come away with two results on the road against the two best teams in the NWSL. Still, this is a team that will need to start collecting more points if they want to find themselves playing in the postseason. The good momentum keeps building for Angel City FC. After a couple of impressive draws on the road against two of the league’s best, it was announced today by the NWSL that forward Alyssa Thompson was the recipient of some individual accolades for the start to her NWSL career. Angel City FC were on the road for their second group stage match in the NWSL Challenge Cup, going up against OL Reign. ACFC came into this match looking to find some rhythm in the early part of this season, and nothing helps that more than a win on the road against a team like the Reign. For the first time in a while, LAFC came into a match facing what was essentially a win-or-go-home scenario on their hands. With a trip to the CONCACAF Champions League Final on the line, the black & gold were going to need a win if they wanted to secure their spot. With a single-goal scored in their 1-1 draw, LAFC secured the away goal advantage, but the Union are a side that are known for scoring more than one at BMO. Tonight was simple for the home side, win, punch their ticket to the final, and avoid all other possibilities.…
For all the history LAFC has made in their short time as an MLS club, there is one bit of history they came tantalizingly close to, that they will never be able to achieve. Becoming the first MLS side to win the CONCACAF Champions League.Β Having made the Finals back in 2020, the team would fall to Tigres UANL, only to watch the Seattle Sounders become the first-ever MLS side to win the tournament just last year. Despite the opportunity at even more history lost, the team is still very much focused onΒ making a return to the CCL Finals,…
