It’s a Mother’s Day weekend at home for Angel City FC. Tonight, they play host to Washington Spirit, who feature star forwards Trinity Rodman and Ashley Sanchez. ACFC come into this one looking to not only keep their winning ways going, but improve on the recent form they’ve found. Their defense will surely be put to the test, with the attack aiming to add a few more goals to the season tally tonight, but most importantly, another three points at home to keep the momentum going.

For Angel City FC Head Coach Freya Coombe, the goal for today isn’t just building on recent results, but improving upon them. They know it won’t be easy though, having to contain one of the league’s best attacking duos in Sanchez and Rodman. It’s something not lost on Angel City FC Head Coach Freya Coombe.
Speaking to media ahead of tonight’s match, she said, “We’ve been pleased with the progress that we’ve made. Playing against Portland, OL Reign, and then this last game against Kansas City, we’ve shown that we’ve grown in our performances. I still think as a group, we won’t be happy with those moments where we switch off, and want to be able to be more defensively resolute.” Adding on later, “We are still searching for that clean sheet in the league, and will be something that we are looking to focus on.”
The Spirit come into this one unbeaten in four of their last five matches, with the most recent result a 4-2 win over Orlando Pride in NWSL Challenge Cup action. They are currently sit in third in league standings, meaning ACFC will have faced all three teams at the top, over their last five matches.
