New kits have dropped all around the NWSL and while some have proven to be divisive, plenty of Angel City FC fans seem to be in agreement about the latest offering from the club. It’s fire. Or rather, it’s Flare, as the club have dubbed this kit. It’s probably safe to say this team is still chasing that immediate heat feeling that we all had when they dropped the Daylight kits, but this is without a doubt, the best one we have seen since.
The new Flare kit. Poised for the runway, but raw enough for the pitch.
“At Angel City, we take pride in creating kits that reflect who we are – bold, ambitious, and unapologetically original,” said Julie Uhrman, Co-Founder and CEO of ACFC, in a statement. “This design introduces a metallic center crest for the first time in club history, elevating its look. The kit exudes power, motion, and strength, capturing the energy of our players and our city. It’s a defining statement as we enter our milestone fifth season and continue raising the standard in everything we do.”
Let’s get into the details shall we, and right off the bat the one thing that sticks out most about this kit outside of the actual design, is the center crest. Plenty of people, this writer included, tend to not like a center crest on football kits, but the way Angel City did this one, making it the focal point of their design, really makes it work in a way other center badges just, don’t. Not to mention, it’s shiny and a bit holographic, like pulling one of the best Pokémon cards from a pack. The design itself seems to emanate from the badge which only helps tie it all together. Speaking of, the design is an Art-Deco sun ray pattern that according to the club, “reflects the club’s recurring brand theme of sunshine, which represents both LA’s famous sunsets and the optimism of a new day, a new opportunity to keep pushing the boundaries.
Another fun detail on the kit is the historic incorporation of the club’s other primary color, Sol Rosa. For the first time ever on an Angel City FC kit, the sponsors that adorn the shirt will all have their logos in the Sol Rosa colorway, really helping to unify the look and tie it all together in a way that isn’t jarring. Lastly, the club motto “Volemos” which means “let’s fly” has seen a design change for this season, with the ‘S’ being replaced by a 5, being stylized as “Volemo5” on the shirt itself to recognize the club’s fifth season.
Meet the Flare Kit!
So far, the reception to the kit has been overwhelmingly positive, with many of the critiques, as expected, surrounding the placement of the crest. That aside, it is definitely one of the “must have” kits from what we have seen across the league today, and is one of the best offerings Angel City has given us since their infamous Daylight kits which still reside in the top spot for most fans. Don’t wait as these kits will surely not stay on the shelves for long, if you want to make sure you have yours before the team kicks off their 2026 season on March 15th, you can grab it over on the team shop now!
