Hodge departs Angel City FC after just one season, arriving to the club in December 2024, ahead of the 2025 season, making her NWSL debut in March of that year when she started in a 1-1 draw against rivals, San Diego Wave. She made 16 appearances this past season, with nine starts for the club, tallying a total of 755 minutes played. Hodge scored once in her inaugural season in the NWSL back in April, in a 3-1 win over Houston Dash.
Hodge was a force in the midfield, known for her physicality, unafraid to stick her feet in and get messy when the moment called for it. Considering how many midfielders Angel City has brought into the squad recently, seeing a player depart isn’t a complete surprise, but it is a bit of a shock to see that player be Hodge, who seemed to fit in well with what Alex Straus was aiming to do. That said, Racing Louisville, a team already known for their physical style of play and aggression, only get tougher with the arrival of Hodge.
For Angel City, the cash is nice as it can always go towards getting another player either ahead of the season or in the summer, but the real meaty part of this trade is not just one, but two International Roster Spots coming to LA for both the 2026 and 2027 seasons. Not only does the departure of Hodge open up a roster spot, but the arrival of two seasons worth of International Roster Spot means the pool of players the club can go after, just got a whole lot bigger. Only time will tell if they look to bring in someone in the immediate, or if they decide to go big game hunting in the summer. For now, it is bittersweet to see Macey Hodge depart after just one season, but we wish her all the best in Louisville.
