Elizabeth Eddy, originally from Newport Beach, California, was selected in the 2014 National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) Draft by the Western New York Flash, helping them win the 2016 NWSL Championship. She has since played for the North Carolina Courage, Sky Blue FC, NJ/NY Gotham FC, and the Houston Dash. She has also spent time playing internationally in 2020 for Vittsjö of Damallsvenskan in Sweden, and most recently in 2021-2022 with New Castle of the A-league in Australia.
“This is such a blessing that this door opened for me,” said Eddy in a statement. “I’m super thankful for the opportunity that the coaching staff and GM have offered. I’m really excited to be close to my family and play in front of my hometown for the first time since my time at USC.”
Kelsey Hill is no stranger to this club or the players. The Elk Grove, California native and a recent graduate of Pepperdine University, has been training with the club since the beginning of the season. She appeared on ACFC’s preseason roster during their exhibition match against Club América Femenil on March 8 at BMO Stadium.
“It has been amazing,” said Hill in a statement. “Being with the players and the coaching staff has helped me grow so much. This has been a huge opportunity for me, being able to see the work I have put in pay off is really gratifying and I am so excited.”
While not exactly within arm’s reach, the playoffs are still a possibility for Angel City, who will definitely need some capable replacements if they plan on taking advantage of other teams around the league losing even more talent then they are in a lot of cases. At the very least, it will be intriguing to see how Interim Head Coach Becki Tweed handles managing in this situation.
