It’s a double announcement day for Angel City FC as their week of arrivals rolls on in style. After announcing a defender earlier this morning, the team followed it up with another announcement this afternoon as they confirm the signing of Duke University midfielder Carina Lageyre. As has been the case with all of their other signings so far this offseason, the young midfielder joins Los Angeles on a three-year contract.

“Since my first meeting with Mark [Parsons] and Alex [Straus], I was excited about their vision for the future for this organization and I am extremely thankful to be part of it,” said Lageyre in a statement when speaking about the move. “I chose Angel City because I want to develop in a competitive training environment with a strong fan base. This team provides all the resources for us to be successful and I’m looking forward to making this city proud.”
“Carina is a fantastic young talent from one of the top college programs in the country, while also having significant US Youth National Team experience,” said ACFC Sporting Director Mark Parsons in a statement. “Carina is a highly intelligent midfielder who can control games through her positional play and passing game which is rare. We couldn’t be happier that she will bring this style of play to our club.”
Lageyre comes to Los Angeles having had a phenomenal career with the Blue Devils amassing 65 appearances with 59 starts, logging just under 4,000 minutes for Duke. She scored six goals across her career, with a stunning three game-winning goals that helped Duke to 56 wins and two NCAA College Cup appearances (2024 and 2025) in her time there.
In her final season with Duke she started all 22 matches, scored two goals including one of her game-winning goals against Clemson. She was a key contributor not just in the regular season, but in the postseason as well. Lageyre also comes into the mix with some National Team experience, having played with the U.S. Youth National Team, competing at the U-15, U-17, and U-20 levels. She also represented the United States 2022 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup, so this is a lot of high-level experience coming into a much needed spot for Angel City. As we have mentioned before, midfield has been a point of emphasis the last few seasons as the team look to improve their play in the middle of the pitch. While she might not see plenty of minutes immediately, Lageyre is definitely one that could be contributing heavily in the future.
