After a quiet start to the offseason, winter has arrived for Angel City FC. Yesterday, the club teased a week of signings incoming that had fans scurrying to find any hint of who would be brought in via the typical social media sleuthing. The wait wouldn’t be long though, as the club has begun the five-signings of New Years, with today’s announcement. The club has announced the signing of Brazilian International midfielder, Ary Borges, who joins the team on a three-year contract after her stint with NWSL side Racing Louisville.

“I’m very excited to play on this new stage in Los Angeles,” said Borges in a statement. “I’m stepping up in my career, being part of a great project like Angel City. I’m also so excited to play in front of the fans who were always amazing when I played against Angel City, so I know it will be an indescribable feeling to play for them. See you soon LA!”
“We are excited to welcome Ary Borges to Angel City, a dynamic box-to-box midfielder who has both NWSL and international experience for one of the best national teams in the world,” said ACFC Sporting Director Mark Parsons in a statement. “She is a brave talent who always wants the ball and to control the game while also being relentless in defending and not giving her opponents a rest. Ary brings important big game experience and competitive mentality with her to Angel City.”
Borges arrives after spending the last few years with Racing Louisville (2023-2025) where she made 53 appearances and scored six goals across all competitions as an integral part of the midfield. This past season Borges made 21 appearances and logged just over 1,400 minutes in NWSL regular season play. She arrived to NWSL after a very successful time in Brazil where she played for Palmeiras (2020-2022) scoring 37 goals across 83 appearances. She also has 49 caps for Brazil Women’s National Team, establishing herself as one of the most creative attacking midfielders on the planet.
This is a big signing for Angel City FC as they look to not just bolster, but completely revamp their roster ahead of 2026. Addressing the midfield, one of the weaker spots for the team the last few seasons, was something that the team knew would be important and bringing in a creative attacking midfielder, capable of getting her own shots and converting them, is massive. Not a bad start to a week where the team look to make some noise after a very quiet start to the offseason.
