After it was announced by the club yesterday that goalkeeper, Brittany Isenhour, would not be returning, Angel City FC dropped a bit of good news on us today. The club announced they have signed defender, Elizabeth Eddy, to a new contract. Originally signed on as a National Team Replacement Player during 2023’s World Cup, the new deal keeps Eddy in Los Angeles through 2025.

“I am so excited to be returning to play for Angel City,” said Eddy in a statement. “It is a dream come true to play for Coach Becki in my hometown for two more years. It’s a one-in-a-million chance to continue growing as a player, help my team win games, and do everything to bring a championship home. Being able to do what you love and be near family is rare, and I am just so grateful.”
“Elizabeth brings professionalism, veteran experience, and infectious joy to the game,” said ACFC General Manager Angela Hucles Mangano in a statement. “We’re fortunate to have her on our team and grateful that she decided to remain at home here with Angel City.”
In 2023, Eddy appeared in six ACFC matches in all competitions for a total of 173 minutes on the pitch. She spent the first half of the 2023 NWSL season with Houston Dash after returning from playing internationally in 2021–2022 with the Newcastle Jets of the A-league in Australia. She has seven total years of NWSL experience and 95 appearances, having notched seven goals and six assists in her career.
In an offseason that has been relatively quiet for Angel City on the additions front, signings like this are always important. Keeping talent from leaving in free agency is a huge plus, and veteran depth is always a good thing for a team with plenty of young talent.
