Seven matches. That is all that is left remaining in the 2026 NWSL Regular Season for Angel City FC. Just seven more matches to secure one of those final playoff spots. We’ve been using the term “must-win” a lot lately in regards to Angel City, but tonight is arguably the most must-win match of what remains. In what will be the last home match before a very long road trip that will also see an international break scattered between matches, Los Angeles will host Seattle Reign, the current holders of that final playoff spot, who also hold a four point lead over Angel City. That lead can be cut to just a single point tonight, but Los Angeles is going to have to play near perfect if they want to get one over on Seattle.

Seattle have taken full advantage of their latest home stand, not just winning all three of their latest matches, but doing so without conceding a goal in that same span. Historically, this is no surprise with Seattle. This is a club that has always fought until the bitter end, oftentimes benefitting from that mentality. Despite a rough season, the Reign fully control their postseason destiny and have found form at the most perfect time. Seattle have leaned on their youth this season, with players like forwards Madison Mercado and Maddie Dahlien leading the team with goals and assists respectively. Midfielder Sam Meza is another player to keep tabs on throughout the match as she can create with the best of them in the middle of the park.
Even after the draw last time out, it’s been a good stretch for Angel City, having won two of their last five. In truth, while getting a lot of draws isn’t always good, Angel City have seen just one loss in eight matches, so it’s obvious the foundation for a team capable of a postseason push, is there, but it’s putting the rest of the house together that is the issue at the moment. Historically, this is not a favorable matchup, with Los Angeles only getting a win three times over their West Coast foes. This match will be as much a battle between the ears as it will be between the white lines. Seattle is a team that is great at sneaking last, last, last-second goals, while lately Angel City has done well to overcome adversity early and find ways to get results. Tonight, they need to find a way to get what is a massive three points, at home, against the team directly above them, in the postseason spot they covet.
How To Watch
While it isn’t the case mathematically, this one definitely feels like it could decide how the playoff race, at least for Angel City, ends up swaying. A big midweek matchup takes center stage with kickoff set for 7pm PST from BMO Stadium in Los Angeles, California. The match will be broadcast live and can be streamed on NWSL+. The match can also be heard via iHeartRadio(ENG), as well as KWKW La Primera 1330 AM(SPA).
