The time has come for Angel City FC to start stacking wins. Sitting just four points off the playoff line, with a stretch of games against teams directly above them, and the NWSL regular season winding down, we have reached win now mode. The big goal when Alex Straus first took over as manager of the side, was to finish this year strong, and now that we have reached the final stretch nothing could be finishing more strong that a push that sees them sneak right into the postseason. The first test will be on the road tonight as they take on Racing Louisville, who are currently above them, sitting just two points off the final playoff spot. After a surprising draw at home against the incredibly tough Washington Spirit, following up with a win on the road against Racing could be the spark needed for the team.

Racing come into this match having lost their last three matches, with just one win in their last five outings. Not only is this a team looking to make a playoff push of their own, but this is a team that is going to be looking for the season sweep of Los Angeles, having gotten the best of Angel City their last meeting in May. Louisville will be without midfielder Savannah DeMelo, who we want to send positive vibes and lots of support to, as she recovers from a medical emergency that occurred a couple of weeks ago. Midfielder Taylor Flint and forward Emma Sears will be two to watch as they not only bagged goals against Angel City last time out, but are two of the focal points to this Racing attack.
Angel City have had some decent form the last month and change, while they did have those back-to-back losses, they were able to bounce back strong last weekend with a massive draw at home against Washington Spirit who currently sit in second place. It was a result nobody saw coming, the type of match that can really push you forward and carrying that momentum into this match, would be wise. The team will be leaning on Sveindís and Riley Tiernan in attack, but will also need moments of brilliance from defenders Gisele Thompson and Evelyn Shores who both tend to play up the pitch consistently. As we mentioned, this is a crucial stretch and if the playoff push is to be successful they will need to come away with three points tonight.
