With the holidays just around the corner, we have a few more stuffers for your stockings in the form of our player postmortem series! Today, we shift back to Angel City FC but stick with the defender theme as we take a look at center back, Megan Reid. A player that was once on the brink of hanging up the boots before even getting to play professionally, had grown into a consistent force at the back for Los Angeles, and this season was no different.
MEGAN REID FIRST INTERNATIONAL GOAL!!!!!!!!!!! 🚨🚨🚨 https://t.co/bT9y20nVoN

In 2025, Reid established herself as solid rotation player. While she wasn’t a starter at the beginning of the season, she was often times the first player off the bench when time came to make subs. A solid presence at the back, Reid may not have been the attacking threat some of the team’s other defenders were, but her ability to track back and keep attackers from taking clean shots at goal was came in clutch a lot throughout the season.
Reid made 18 appearances for Angel City this past season, with 9 starts, eight of which she went the whole 90 minutes, logging in a total of 892 minutes on the year. She made 18 tackles defensively throughout the season, with 43 duels won (62% win rate), 11 aerial duels won (46% win rate), recorded just two interceptions but did have 27 recoveries, nine blocked shots, and was dribbled past on just five occasions.
Our first iron woman. Always part of the ACFC family 💪🖤
Thank you, Megan Reid. pic.twitter.com/RXrsbsbJ0n— Angel City FC (@weareangelcity) November 17, 2025
Despite another solid season with Los Angeles, Reid hit free agency at the end of the 2025 campaign, and it shouldn’t surprise anyone that she didn’t last long on the market. Expansion side Denver Summit FC was the team that ended up luring Reid away from LA and signing her to a contract as the team is set to make their NWSL debut in 2026. It’s one of the more bittersweet departures from the club as Reid had gone from the brink of giving up on her professional soccer aspirations when Angel City signed her, had become the club’s first-ever Iron Woman, and was one of the unsung leaders within the squad. While she is no longer with the club, it is great to see her snatched up quickly after proving her worth in the NWSL, and we wish her nothing but the best with her new club!

Appreciate the well-wishes from Angel City FC, but it’s hard not to question letting an Iron Woman like her walk.
Reid’s durability, work rate, and leadership were cornerstones of this team. Denver Summit didn’t hesitate—and that says a lot. Best wishes MR!
