The news just keeps on coming and this is even bigger than the last. Angel City FC have announced today they have parted ways with Head Coach Alex Straus effective immediately. The move comes as a bit of a surprise given his arrival just over a year ago, and this being his first full season with the club, that he will not see out.
Thank you, Coach.

“Alex brought real energy and passion to Angel City, developing our style of play and overseeing the important development of our players,” said Mark Parsons, Sporting Director in a statement. “He guided one of the youngest rosters in NWSL history through a pivotal period of growth. We are deeply grateful for Alex’s leadership and the progress made during his tenure, and we wish him nothing but success in his next chapter.”
Straus joined Angel City in April 2025 following a successful spell in Europe, where he led Bayern Munich Women to back-to-back Frauen-Bundesliga titles after winning the league in Norway with Sandviken/Brann. Working closely with the club’s football leadership, he helped guide Angel City through a significant roster refresh ahead of the 2026 NWSL Season, supporting the emergence of a younger core, including several who are expected to play important roles in the club’s future.
After a hot start to the season, the results have dried up and the team has struggled as of late. Currently Angel City FC sit in 12th place, but have a game in hand and are just four points from the last playoff spot. Which makes this move all the more surprising for a club that desperately needs stability right now. The club will begin its search for a permanent head coach immediately, as we enter what is shaping up to be another rebuild period for Los Angeles.

“Since Alexander Straus officially took over ACFC as coach on June 1, 2025, their regular-season record was 2-10-4 (W-L-D) 11 GF, 22 GA.
Prior to Kraus’s assumption of duties, ACFC’s record was 5-3-2 (W-L-D) 20 GF, 19 GA.
The final record is 7-13-6 (W-L-D) 31GF, 41GA
ACFC ended up in 11th place and missed the playoffs.
Straus implemented a deficient strategy despite evident proof that it failed miserably.
One cannot ignore the fact that Straus consistently refused to utilize a proven performer and world class talent like Press.
Parsons lost or gave away good players and relied on rookies and mediocre signings.
Straus and Parsons are spinning this failure by implying that it is building for the future.
Given their performance this past season, I question whether it will work any better next year with the Strass/Parsons partnership.”
Perhaps the next step is to replace Parsons also!
