This is exactly what you want if you’re a team fighting for a spot in the postseason. Angel City FC essentially hold their destiny in their hands as they get set for a crucial stretch where they will face off against teams close to them in the standings as they look to get on the right side of the playoff line before the close of the NWSL regular season. First up, a big test on the road as they take on North Carolina Courage in what is a noon showdown, local time. A win wont put them across the line just yet, but with matches against teams holding on for dear life to their spots still to come, a win would be a massive boost to Los Angeles in their hunt for a playoff spot.
On to the next challenge.

If ever there was time to catch the Carolina Courage at home, it’s now. They come into this one not having won a match in their last six outings, including three draws at home. The courage do have one thing going for them, and that’s the fact that Angel City have yet to find a win against them when at home, but as they say, there’s a first time for everything. While North Carolina might be coming into this one below Angel City in the standings, they too have a chance to surge into a postseason spot, so expect them to come out hungry for the win in this one. Despite recently parting ways with young rising star, Jeadyn Shaw, they still have Brianna Pint and Ashley Sanchez who can absolutely find ways to score if given time and space.
Angel City come into this one, fresh off a loss after going four unbeaten. Even with the tough loss, they are still just three points away from the final postseason spot, and a first-ever win in North Carolina would go a long way to possibly extending their season. Angel City hold the slight advantage in the head-to-head with three wins, and two draws, while the home side has two wins. That said, this is when they need to show some more of that mental toughness they have flashed as of late, and get back into the win column. Riley Tiernan, and most of Sveindís Jónsdóttir need to lift the team on their back as the leaders in attack. Sveindís is still searching for her account opening goal, after coming close on several occasions the last few matches.
