This is it. No more ‘every point matters’, no more ‘just get the result’, Angel City FC have officially reached the win or bust period of the season. The math has mathed and if Los Angeles lose today, their playoff dreams, however slim, are officially dashed. This will be their second of three matches at home to round out the regular season, and they can’t afford anything less than three points as they get set to take on the Houston Dash.

Houston come into this match in slightly better form than Los Angeles, winning two of their last five matches. Four of those five have ended in shutouts either for or against the Dash, with their latest outing ending in one goal draw. Houston are a team that scores by committee with all but a few of their regular starting XI having found the back of the net. Even their defenders sit with a goal each. That said, Yazmeen Ryan, Kalyssa van Zanten and former Angel City FC striker Messiah Bright will be ones to watch for in the Dash attack.
Angel City are at home for the second of this three match home stand and desperation isn’t the word. They have gone winless in their last five matches, with four losses during that span. It’s been a struggle in the final third for the team, having been shut out in their recent two losses, scoring just four goals in their last five. Even with the poor form, the team have the slimmest of hopes remaining to get into the postseason, but to do so they have to win. A loss or draw officially eliminates them from contention, so we have reached must-win territory for these last three matches of the regular season.
