It’s been a very strange week for Angel City FC. After securing their latest win, pushing their unbeaten run to four and making it two wins running, the team had to say goodbye to rising superstar Alyssa Thompson. The player pegged for the face of the franchise title in the future in Los Angeles made the move across the pond to Chelsea FC, in a deal that came out of nowhere and developed quickly over the course of the week. Now, the team have to put all of that aside, as they still have a job to do. They still have a great chance at getting themselves into the NWSL postseason, and taking three points off Gotham FC today will see them end the weekend in that last playoff spot.
A tale as old as time 🤺 Let’s get it LA!!!

Gotham’s form hasn’t been terrible as of late, but the New York side has struggled to find goals and have left themselves vulnerable for the overtake in the standings. They have lost just one of their last five, but also have three draws with a win their last time out. They have enjoyed the heavy advantage over Angel City in their previous matchups, with the East Coast side winning six of the eight total meetings. Esther González will be the player Angel City need to stop, as the forward is the focal point of the Gotham attack with 12 goals this season.
Angel City will be looking to tap into that inaugural season energy, as the last time they were able to beat Gotham, was their second-ever meeting in 2022. Funnily enough, that was a 3-1 win on the road. The team go into this match riding that four match unbeaten run having won their last two outings as they continue their postseason push with their improving form under Alex Straus. Jun Endo will look to make her return, again, as she isn’t on the list of unavailable players. With one of their best attackers now in London, Angel City will lean heavily on Riley Tiernan and Sveindís Jónsdóttir to not only get past Gotham, but keep this attack improving as the regular season wraps up.
