We talked about it last offseason with the team facing a handful of key players hitting free agency, and with a few doing the same this season as well the point remains, sometimes locking down those that are already here is just as important as bringing in new talent to bolster the squad. Angel City FC forward Claire Emslie is one such player. The team announced this morning that the Scottish National has inked a new two-year contract that will keep her at the club through the 2026 season.

“I’m happy to sign a new contract at Angel City and excited about the positive changes the club is making, ” said Emslie in a statement. “From year one I have believed in the vision and potential of this club and I will give everything to see that happen. I love playing for Angel City in front of the best fans and atmosphere at BMO Stadium!”
“Re-signing Claire is a significant milestone for our club and our incredible fan base, and we’re thrilled to have her with us for at least two more seasons,” stated ACFC Technical Director Mark Wilson in a statement. “Her exceptional quality and impact on the field this year underscore our commitment to retaining Claire during this pivotal phase of our growth and development. She embodies the spirit of an Angel City FC player, and we eagerly anticipate her continued contributions into 2025 and beyond.”
Emslie’s arrival to the club marked the start of her second stint in the NWSL. The forward was with the Orlando Pride in 2019. She made 11 appearances, tallied an assist, and saw just under 800 minutes on the pitch. From there, she went to the WSL where she played with Everton FC, before arriving in Los Angeles in 2022. This time around Emslie has been a key player for her club, logging just over 4,500 minutes, scoring 15 goals and serving up seven assists in her 64 appearances across all competitions.
Her importance was really evident this season as her early season struggles also meant the struggle of the offense as a whole, however she was able to right the ship and finish with a strong second half of the campaign. Now, she has committed to the Los Angeles side as a player who the team will no doubt look to build around.
