The good momentum keeps building for Angel City FC. After a couple of impressive draws on the road against two of the league’s best, it was announced today by the NWSL that forward Alyssa Thompson was the recipient of some individual accolades for the start to her NWSL career. The 18-year-old was named NWSL Rookie of the Month for March/April.

It didn’t take long for the No.1 overall selection in the 2023 NWSL Draft to make an impact, scoring her first goal in just 11 minutes into her NWSL debut, while also becoming the fourth youngest player in league history to score a goal. Thompson has tallied 421 minutes in the opening six matches for Angel City FC, leading all rookies with two goals scored.
Coming into the season, Thompson garnered most if not all of the hype from the 2023 draft class, but anyone who has been paying attention to the NWSL this season will tell you just how stacked, and deep, that class was. The fact Alyssa Thompson was the first rookie to receive this honor from that class, while playing on a stage like Los Angeles, for a team that has desperately needs her to produce already, is truly a sign of all that is to come for the incredibly talented youngster.
