After a very dramatic weekend at home that resulted in three points over Utah, Angel City FC are back on the road. A quick hour flight North as the team from Los Angeles pay a visit to the Bay Area to take on their rivals, Bay FC. One side is trending in the right direction, while another is currently struggling for form, but in the NWSL the only certain, is chaos.

Bay FC have had a rough first half to their 2025 campaign. The team currently sit in 12th, just four points clear of last place in the standings, they have a negative goal differential and have only scored eight goals all season. They have won just one of their last five matches, losing their last two outings by a combined 6-2. Now, they get set to host an Angel City side that is starting to find some consistency.
This will be just the fourth meeting between these new rivals, with Bay FC holding the slime advantage with two wins to Angel City’s one. Interestingly enough, every match these two have played, has ended with the winner coming away with a clean sheet, so trends say the winner will hold the opposition to zero goals, which currently doesn’t bode well for the Bay who have struggled in that regard.
Angel City come into this match riding a two match winning run, having won three of their last five. Riley Tiernan and Alyssa Thompson can’t seem to stop scoring or setting up goals for others, while Christen Press looks to be getting more playing time which, if she continues to look as good as she has in the limited minutes so far, is a scary thought for the rest of the league. For the first time in a while, or ever in all honesty, it feels like this Angel City side can pull off a run of wins. The consistency is starting to show, the chemistry looks to be in a good spot, and the team have another chance to flex their strength over an opponent that is very beatable, even on the road. That said, the key to this match for Los Angeles will be defensively. Making sure they don’t give up any easy, early goals, limiting chances and not overcommitting to the attack. If they can do that, it should be another three points in the bag.
