After a stellar showing at the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup while representing Jamaica, defender Allyson Swaby will head overseas permanently. Angel City FC announced yesterday afternoon that a deal had been reached to transfer Swaby to Italian side, AC Milan. The agreed-upon fee has yet to be disclosed from either side.
Always part of the ACFC family 💪🖤

“Allyson will always be a part of our club’s history and we look forward to seeing her next chapter with AC Milan,” said Angel City FC General Manager Angela Hucles Mangano in a statement. “We are happy we were able to get this deal in place after her tremendous performance on the world stage of football with Team Jamaica, appearing in her second World Cup. We truly wish her nothing but the best.”
Swaby, who has spent the past six months on loan with Paris Saint-Germain, joined Angel City for the club’s inaugural season from AS Roma, where she appeared in 55 matches. She scored two goals and helped the team bring home their first major trophy at the Coppa Italia final. She was also called up to the Jamaican Women’s National Team in 2018, where she has made 29 match appearances. Swaby made her second FIFA Women’s World Cup appearance at the ongoing 2023 tournament, where she scored the team’s only group-stage goal to secure Jamaica’s first-ever trip to the knockout rounds.
The transfer ends a head-scratching spell for the defender, as she never really got the opportunities to showcase her immense talent on a regular basis. After hardly receiving minutes last season, she was sent on loan to PSG before this recent move to AC Milan. While its a shame it didn’t work out for ACFC, we wish her nothing but all the success in the world going forward.
